No one wants to fail. It is a human instinct. Whether it is a sports competition, love relation, or even failure to write a good piece of content!

Maybe you think a blog post about writing good, must be good content! Well, you are right. But let me admit, I am in the process of learning. I share what I learn. You can be sure that I’m trying my best, but if you think amateur writing wouldn’t benefit you, thanks for reading till now.

Otherwise, stay with me through this article, and let’s learn together. We are going to examine some solid principles of content writing.

1- Create a Compelling Intro

A good intro is a convincing intro! Many visitors are not going to read your entire writing. This part is where you should try your best to change the game.

A well-written intro is a slippery slide (As Joseph Sugarman says in one of his books). It sends the reader to the body, where you are going to talk about the main topic.

Let’s examine the intro of this blog post, some lines above.

As I said in that part, I’ve tried to make it attractive. I don’t know if I was successful. You are the rightful judges. Let me know in the comment section.

I also tried to show my good intentions. I warned about an amateur writer that is just sharing. Honesty satisfies readers.

The length of a good intro can vary according to the topic, the target society, and the phase of the content marketing strategy that you are writing in.

For example, the visitor acknowledging the problem will likely put more time to know it better. Introductions in this phase can be longer. You can take your time to make fear, make them greedy, and prove that the content is worth reading. But don’t go too far. Get to the point ASAP.

On the other hand, if the article is a guide for solving a specific problem, the reader wants to get the answer immediately. So, in this case, you should keep it very short.

2- Write an Attention-Grabbing Headline

720K videos are uploaded on youtube every day (According to OBELO). 7.5 million blog posts are published on the web each day (According to LETTER.LY). It is officially a battlefield. The headline is the front line.

A good headline can make the writing shine among all the others.

Many great pieces of writing fail due to having poor headlines. The boring ones that nobody won’t notice.

Look at the headline that I used. I tried to win attention using the fear factor. I warned about some disaster principles. Then I add a sentence for changing meaning in 180 degrees. I said avoiding these principles will make you fail!

3- Write a Helpful Conclusion

So what? What was the goal of your writing? What are you trying to say?

It is the part where you summarize your entire script. The shorter, the better! But don’t forget about being comprehensive.

Ending parts are great for using the call to action. The ones who reach the end more likely will listen to you and do the wanted.

Also, many writers link to their sources in this section. It is optional. You can make links wherever you want.

4- Research More to Write better

You can’t describe something you don’t know. Writing content is all about making value.

A good writer is someone who puts time and effort into learning about the topic. It is necessary to have proper and all side covering researches before even start to write.

Maybe you think you are wasting your time, but I can assure you the more you learn, the faster you write.

Besides that, it is not possible to make valuable content without enough information.

5- Use Short Sentences

Short sentences are easy to read. Don’t expect people to consume a lot of energy for your content. It’s a lot to ask. Long sentences demand more power.

In the process of making a slippery slide, you should remove any obstacle on the way. Using long sentences is just adding complexity.

6- Be Entertaining

Readers don’t like boring articles. So be fun!

Being fun is not about making jokes in every line. Entertaining audiences means making good time for them.

Depending on the target society, you can do several things.

You can make real-life examples to fluent the text. If the potential readers accept jokes, use them. Do your best to reduce any frictions.

Being entertaining is a powerful weapon to keep the audiences satisfied.

7- Separate Information by Using Headlines

To make the text readable, it is necessary to split the entire writing.

You can do this by using headlines known as H2, H3, H4, etc.

For example, look at what I did in this article.

The main headline or H1 shows the central subject. It is about seven essential principles of writing content.

Following the article, I use different H2s to make the entire text easier to read and scan.

Visitors are going to scan the whole article in seconds. Using headlines makes the scanning process more effortless.

Also, if they want to go to a specific part of the text, they can do so with the help of headlines.

Let’s Conclude

A writer must follow the rules for making a remarkable piece of writing.

I mentioned seven principles of content writing that I believe are more important than others. All these principles help to stay on the road. The road that leads to satisfying readers and makes them move forward in the customer’s journey.

I mentioned above that I’m a beginner. Yes, I am a beginner at writing English content. But I’m doing this in Persian for more than three years.

So I make this list by using my own experiences and two other sources:
